Police Shoot, Kill Man Who Allegedly Points Gun at Them

PHOENIX - Huddled around the body, police collected evidence.

At 67th Avenue and McDowell, and end to a police chase and the end to one man's life.

Officers shot and killed a man after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers.

They say two suspected illegal immigrants driving a red GMC Denali SUV made a small traffic violation. Police tried to stop the SUV, but the men took off, hit a median, then ran on foot from the scene.

Police caught one of the men. The other allegedly threatened officers.

"That individual failed to obey commands and reached into his waistband and pointed a hand gun at officers," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.

An off-duty officer at a nearby gas station fired at the suspect, along with another officer.
