TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a suspected drug smuggler with at least 16 prior felony convictions.

Agents also arrested three convicted sex offenders, who are believed to be gang members, between Nov. 13 and 25.

Here are the incidents, according to the Border Patrol:

* On Thursday, agents arrested Cary Douglas Rininger, who fled a checkpoint after he was referred to a secondary inspection. He drove away from agents at a high rate of speed until an air unit tracked him down near Benson, Ariz., where he drove his car through a fence and ran away. Agents arrested him and confiscated 198 pounds of marijuana from his vehicle. Rininger had a warrant for his arrest and had been convicted of at least 16 prior felonies, including an assault on an officer, burglary and grand theft.

* Between Nov. 13 and 25, agents found that a Honduran and two Mexican men they arrested for immigration violations were previously convicted of sex crimes, including rape and aggravated sexual assault. Agents also found that the suspects are believed to be members of the MS-13 and Florencia/Surenos 13 gangs.
