Border Patrol Halts Narcotics Smuggling Attempt and Apprehends Illegal Aliens

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents halted a narcotics smuggling attempt and apprehended several illegal aliens northwest of Laredo.

The incident occurred during the evening of August 26, when agents responded to several individuals carrying bundles at a ranch near Mines Road. Agents apprehended four individuals and seized five bundles of marijuana.

The bundles had an approximate weight of 504.34 pounds with an estimated street value of $403,472. The contraband and investigation into the case were subsequently turned over to Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Even with the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector continue to secure the Nation’s borders and prevent the smuggling of drugs.
