Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris will be meeting with the Daily News Editorial Board today to discuss his stance on illegal immigration.
Morris is expected to explain his administration’s approach to dealing with illegal immigrants in Okaloosa County. A recent public outcry has urged Morris to adopt the Bay County Sheriff’s Office controversial approach of seeking out illegal immigrants at construction sites.
Bay County deputies pull up at the work sites in their patrol cars and then chase whoever runs. Those who take off are arrested on charges such as trespassing, cutting through someone else’s property, or loitering if hiding out in someone’s yard, or reckless driving if speeding off in a car. U.S. immigration authorities are then given the names of those believed to be in this country illegally.
A representative of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a recent guest column that the tactic of rounding up illegal aliens may be unconstitutional.
The Daily News will cover this meeting for the Wednesday edition.

You know, it's really sad when law enforcement officials have to explain why they try and uphold the law.

Thanks for the link NCByrd, I shot off an e-mail to support Charlie, and asked if it were possible to get Charlie to donate some of his DNA. Okaloosa County could make a fortune if they were to clone Charlie.

This is great! Oh, how I wish other local LE officers had the backbone to do this.
If they impounded all those pretty new pickups and SUV's when they don't have valid licenses or insurance, etc. If they enforced zoning laws regarding number of occupants, number of cars on the streets, etc., things would be tough for the illegals and they would leave these cities. Let them congregate in the 'sanctuary cities' and see how they really, really like them.
You know there is a law they can take property involved in drug dealings. If some of these landlords had their rental property confiscated when they find drug dealings going on - maybe they would be more careful to whom they rent.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris says the law enforcement community is just as frustrated as the public over the issue of illegal immigration.
But existing laws and limited resources prevent his deputies from targeting immigrants who are here illegally.
Morris met with the Daily News Editorial Board this morning to discuss and explain his stance on the issue. Morris has recently come under criticism for not being as aggressive as Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen.
McKeithen has received national media attention for his controversial “roundupsâ€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
