March 4, 2014 – ICE deports Sacramento man wanted in Mexico for mass murder

A Mexican national, who resided in the Sacramento area, was deported to his native country March 4 by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), where he faces multiple homicide charges stemming from an attack 14 years ago that killed eight government officials in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. March 7, 2014 – ERO Baltimore arrests registered sex offender sentenced in illegal identity document, social security fraud scheme

A Maryland registered sex offender was sentenced March 7 for possessing a forged naturalization certificate, which allowed him to be in the United States illegally since 1974, following an investigation led by ERO. Full Story

DEA Publishes Proposal to Reschedule Hydrocodone
FEB 24 (WASHINGTON)
Today the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) published in the Federal Register a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to move hydrocodone combination products (HCPs) from Schedule III to Schedule II, as recommended by the Assistant Secretary for Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and as supported by the DEA’s own evaluation of relevant data. This NPRM proposes to impose the regulatory controls and sanctions applicable to Schedule II substances on those who handle or propose to handle HCPs. The public is invited to review the proposed rule, which is posted on the DEA’swebsite.

Calling the rise in overdose deaths from heroin and other prescription pain-killers an “urgent public health crisis,” Attorney General Eric Holder vowed Monday that the Justice Department would combat the epidemic through a mix of enforcement and treatment efforts. As an added step, the Attorney General is also encouraging law enforcement agencies to train and equip their personnel with the life-saving, overdose-reversal drug known as naloxone.
