MADERO - People living in one upper Valley community are sleeping a little easier tonight.

That's because Mission Police and the border patrol are teaming up to present a show of force in Madero.

The community of Madero is at the southern edge of Mission located right next to the Rio Grande River.

It’s also the scene of high speed chases, and illegal drug and human smuggling.

Friday, the border patrol and Mission Police announced they are going to set up a permanent command center in the community.

Law enforcement officials hope the show of force will help stop the illegal activity that occurs along the streets of Madero.
