Yuma, Ariz. – United States Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector seized 2,127 pounds of marijuana, and recovered a stolen vehicle yesterday morning.

On October 23, at 2:30 a.m., Yuma Sector agents discovered the tracks of a vehicle that entered the United States illegally in a remote area west of the Tinajas Altas Mountain Range, 20 miles south of Wellton, Ariz. Border Patrol agents, assisted by a service K-9, located an abandoned blue 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck within the confines of the Barry M. Goldwater Bombing Range (BMGR). The pickup truck, which had been reported stolen out of Glendale, Ariz., was loaded with plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana.

After a comprehensive search of the area, Border Patrol agents determined that all of the smuggling vehicle occupants had absconded into Mexico.

The stolen pickup truck was turned over to the Barry M. Goldwater Range Wardens.

The marijuana, which had an estimated street value of $ 1,701,600.00, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
