England: Illegal immigrant bigamist jailed for £147k benefits con

    The Grimsby Telegraph

At the same time, (the mother of five) made the same claims to the London Borough of Enfield and made £32,142.

The Department of Work and Pensions also paid her £19,820 in income support she was not entitled to.

On top of the profit she made on her house, Muwonge defrauded the UK out of £147,836.26 over an 11-year period in which she never had the right to remain in the UK.
AN ILLEGAL immigrant married by the Archbishop of York who claimed £147,000 worth of benefits and made £70,000 selling her council house back to a cash-strapped authority has been jailed for two and a half years.

Bigamist Rebecca Muwonge, 47, now of Keelby, entered the country from Uganda in 1996 using the name of her 18-year-old niece Proscovia Kasozi and immediately claimed for short-term housing benefit.

MARRIED TWICE: The Archbishop Of York, Dr John Sentamu, was the vicar of a parish church in South London when fellow Ugandan Samuel Bisaso, 44, first married Rebecca Muwonge in 1996.

The London Borough of Newham granted her short-term accommodation twice under that name while she used her real identity to pocket benefits from the London Borough of Enfield.

Mother-of-five Muwonge was married to Samuel Bisaso, 47, at the Holy Trinity Church in Tulse Hill, south London by John Sentamu in 1996.

As reported, Dr Sentamu later ordained Mr Bisaso as a clergyman in the Church of Uganda, and he went on to be a Church of England chaplain for the Mission to Seafarers church charity in Immingham.

The pair married again in the London Borough of Newham but this time Muwonge used the name Proscovia Kasozi as under that identity she could get her husband indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

The couple had a troubled marriage and although they never divorced, Muwonge married a Dutchman, Crispine Atessa, while the pair were separated.

Bisaso and Muwonge were both convicted of immigration offences and jailed for 18 months after a trial in 2011.

She gave birth to one of her children in prison while serving the term.

Prosecuting, James Thacker, said: "In 1996 Rebecca Muwonge made a homeless application to the London Borough of Newham and in her application she represented she was being made homeless by a family friend called James Kasozi.

"A letter from Mr Kasozi stated that he had asked Muwonge to leave the address. As a result of that application Muwonge was temporarily housed by the borough and in 1997 she became a secured tenant in Canning Town.

"How it becomes fraudulent is that she has said she is homeless when is clearly not.

"She bought the property in July 2004 using the right-to-buy provisions from the London Borough of Newham.

"The property was sold to her for £116,000 with a mortgage from Santander where she said she was a data processor for Hammerton Analysts.

"She then sold the property back to the borough for £187,000 making a tidy profit of £70,000."

Between 2006 and 2008, Muwonge made renewal applications for housing and council tax benefit and pocketed £25,372 from the London Borough of Newham.

At the same time, she made the same claims to the London Borough of Enfield and made £32,142.

The Department of Work and Pensions also paid her £19,820 in income support she was not entitled to.

On top of the profit she made on her house, Muwonge defrauded the UK out of £147,836.26 over an 11-year period in which she never had the right to remain in the UK.

Judge Louise Kamill, sentencing, said: "You came to this country either as a 16-year-old or a 13-year- old depending on which date of birth is correctly recorded.

"You have two different lives in this country and have had from the outset of your applications which date back to 1996.

    "You abused the system."

Muwonge, now of Victoria Road, Keelby, admitted two charges of false accounting, failing to notify a change in circumstances to obtain benefit and obtaining property by deception at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Bisaso denied three charges of conspiracy to commit fraud at the same hearing.

The prosecution accepted that the only evidence they had against him was that he was married to Muwonge and that he lived with her.

The charges will lay on file.

Take this one example of illegal alien identity fraud in England and multiply it by tens of millions and you will begin to get the picture of how this exact same fraud works in every state and county in the United States.

Now England is finally waking up ..
