Brackettville Agents Thwart Four Human Smuggling Attempts

    Release Date: June 11, 2020

Brackettville, Texas U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped four separate human smuggling attempts within two hours on the morning of June 9.

Agents apprehended a total of 12 illegal aliens in four separate incidents..

“The vigilance and stalwart dedication of the agents in Brackettville and throughout Del Rio Sector continue to thwart these dangerous and highly unsuccessful attempts to smuggle aliens,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon, Jr. “The reckless disregard and growing desperation of these criminal organizations only strengthens our resolve to see such criminal practices put to an end. Simply put, if you try to smuggle in the Del Rio Sector, we are going to stop you.”

Brackettville Station agents performed several vehicle stops throughout their area of operation. In four separate events, within a few hours, agents arrested four suspected smugglers and 12 illegal aliens.

In the course of one event on Farm to Market Road 131, a U.S. citizen accompanied by a juvenile passenger was taken into custody by agents, along with five suspected illegal aliens.

In an unrelated event, agents encountered a suspected smuggling load on Ranch Road 674. The driver of that vehicle, a U.S. citizen, was traveling with his infant daughter.

All suspected smugglers face felony charges under 8 USC § 1324, alien smuggling, and if convicted could receive up to 10 years in prison.

All illegal aliens are processed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.
