In our early years we brought in people who had the skills and culture to make our then-backwards country succeed. We could have easily succumbed to the imperial ambitions of other major powers, having wrested political control from the British crown.

This was also before the massive invention of labor saving devices which has made unskilled labor an anachronism. Americans, too, are also displaced by labor saving inventions---such as ATM machines, phone switching equipment, credit card activated dispensing machines. Even skilled nursing is losing importance as minimally invasive techniques enter into the operating room.

But that is what Progress is all about. It's hard on the people who lose their vocations, but we usually have retraining programs available for them.

Our low skilled illegal workers have, however, found a way to strike back---using the social justice card and their cohort of legal advocates.

I wish the open border crowd would tell me at what number would America have enough, 400, 500 million, what would make their dream world. While we continue to import poor under educated people our public school system is failing, we are losing our manufacturing base to the third world,we bleed money for oil to the desert countries at the same time we spend trillions protecting these same countries as the world police force.

What is the end game it would appear to any sane person self destruction, everything has a beginning/end I believe unless we change course we certainly will fundamentally change America forever in to another third world with no middle class without freedom.

I firmly believe the elite`s want to compete with China and want essentialy the same workforce so oldguy you may have hit the nail square on the head ...

Linda's claim is as the same old story. OBL proponents making empty claims of racism and other names, in order to try to shame people, or silence them into retreating on letting the Chavez's, McCains and Grahams of the world have their amnesty in order to supress Americans by flooding our nation with undereducated and unskilled workers, depressing our wages and keeping us down.

The simple truth is that this tactic is the sign of an elite political class that is losing it's luster in the eyes of true Americans, vying for more power and clout, trying to bring in a block of voters they feel they can own and control for a while. A struggle to maintain their power.
