A Brecksville man has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to hire undocumented workers, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the office of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
As part of his plea agreement, the man, Ravindra Telluri, 42, has paid $1 million to the United States. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 9, 2013.
Telluri had been the owner and operator of two Seven Hills information technology companies, Hytech Consulting, Inc. and InterOne Corp., from Jan. 1, 2008 through Oct. 14, 2010. Both have since been sold.
During that time, Telluri was part of a conspiracy to recruit and hire Indian citizens to work as temporary computer programmer analysts. According to the release, Telluri knew that he was hiring people who were not lawfully authorized to be employed and that false documentation had been submitted for the necessary H-1b visas.
The full press release with more details on the conspiracy is available on the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio’s website.
