Breitbart News Washington Political Editor Matthew Boyle and political correspondent Alex Swoyer joined WHO Newsradio 1040 with guest host Jeff Angelo in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday morning.

They revealed the stark differences between Breitbart News and the mainstream media, even providing evidence of how mainstream media reporters intentionally frame their narratives.

“Yesterday, I was covering the Palin endorsement of Trump over in Ames and I’m sitting there in the press area and all these other mainstream media reporters’ stories start hitting the minute she takes the stage and one other reporter comes up to me and says, ‘Why is your story not up yet? I just checked Breitbart – it’s not up yet,’” Boyle explained, giving an example of how the mainstream media operates. “And I’m like, ‘well, I don’t actually pre-write my stories. I actually wait until I hear the speech before I write stories,’ I think this is indicative of the fact that most of the people in the mainstream media…they frame the narrative before they go into the event.”

“There are elements of the old guard…that are terrified at this populous revolt that you’re seeing across the country,” Boyle added about the establishment media. “They aren’t really happy about the fact that Breitbart is succeeding as a news organization.”

Boyle and Swoyer also discussed the “We Are Breitbart” Meet Up tonight in downtown Des Moines, where both will be speaking about the mission and history of Breitbart News, founded by the late Andrew Breitbart, and covering the 2016 election.

“What we’ve done, we’ve kind of carried on the legacy that Andrew left behind for us in building a news organization that’s not just designed to combat the mainstream media anymore. In our viewpoint the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press – these legacy media outlets – they’ve failed. They failed to go after the stories that people care about, so what we’re going to do is our goal, our aim, is to replace the mainstream media.”

Angelo–who is filling in for Iowa talker Jan Mickelson in the final weeks before the caucuses–asked Swoyer what issues she likes to write about in particular as a reporter working for Breitbart.

“I don’t necessarily think it’s what I like to write about,” Swoyer responded. “It’s more the feedback from our readers. It’s what are they interested in. We’re lucky we have a radio show seven days a week on SiriusXM and have callers that actually come prepared and express things that they want us to look into – issues that are important to them.”

“Of course, we’re seeing [in] the top three, immigration,” she added. “That’s been something Breitbart.com has been huge on. We have Breitbart Texas and we have reporters down at the border. So that’s been an issue we’ve covered extensively, both down at the border and [on] Capitol Hill.”

Boyle and Swoyer will be at Smokey D’s BBQ at 1210 Loqust Street in Des Moines, Iowa from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The “We Are Breitbart” Meet Up aims to bring conservative, liberty-minded people together to have an informative conversation and debate.
