Drugs, guns, dynamite seized in Oceanside

Drugs, cash, firearms and four sticks of dynamite were seized when investigators from the North County Regional Gang Task Force served three search warrants in Oceanside during an investigation into weapons and drug trafficking, the Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

They were assisted by officers and investigators from the Sheriff’s Department, Oceanside Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service.

The warrants were served Wednesday at residences on Compass Road and Newport Street, and at a storage unit on Edgehill Lane.

More than a pound of methamphetamine was seized, along with $23,000 in cash and six firearms, said sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Miedecke.

Marvin Wight, 32, who lived at the Compass Road residence, was booked into the Vista jail on a parole violation and on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
