Bush is at it again: promotes amnesty in Arkansas

Immigration comments excerpted from the White House House press release linked below:
    -------------
    October 15, 2007

The first part of the question was immigrant -- immigration. As you know, I'm a person who believes strongly in comprehensive immigration reform. I agree with our citizens who say that we've got to do a better job of enforcing the laws of the country. And the laws of the country is, you know, you can't employ somebody who is here illegally -- knowingly employ somebody who is here illegally -- and that you've got a border for a reason, a Border Patrol for a reason, to enforce the border. And I'm for that and I supported congressional efforts to modernize our border, and we are. It's a long, hard border to enforce. But we've doubled the Border Patrol, we're using technologies to find people sneaking in here.

But I also recognize this, that in order to truly, effectively work the border in a way that most Americans want, you've got to have a program that will enable somebody to come here and legally work on a temporary basis, because if you're somebody who's got a starving family at home, and you're interested in putting food on the table, you'll go to great lengths to come to America to do jobs Americans aren't doing. And so, therefore, in order for us to have good border policy, it makes sense to have a worker policy, a temporary worker plan with verifiable, tamper-proof cards to allow somebody to come here to do a job Americans aren't willing to do.

You got a lot of people up here that are working jobs Americans aren't willing to do. There are not a lot of Americans who want to pluck chickens. I don't know what they're doing on your place, but I'm sure it's hard work and it's hard to find workers. But if you find somebody who's got a hungry family, it's amazing how hard they'll work. And so it seems like to me that in order to have good border policy, we got to have a tamper-proof card available for temporary workers to come.

And then the big issue is, what are we going to do with the 11 million people already here? Well, you can't kick them out. Some people say, you can kick them out; I don't think you can kick them out. I don't think it's realistic policy. On the other hand, I think it's a mistake to have instant citizenship. The reason I don't believe you should have instant citizenship is because it will cause the next 11 million to want to come. And we're trying to make sure they have an orderly immigration policy.

And so I supported the plan in the Senate that gave people an opportunity over time to prove their worth as a citizen: to show that they pay taxes, and were -- they had the ability to be a constructive citizen. Give them a chance to get at the back at the line. That's what I thought we ought to do. But it didn't pass. And it was a mistake that the Congress didn't pass comprehensive immigration reform. That's why it's still an issue. That's why the President comes to speak in Rogers and he stands up and says, what are you going to do about the problem? Congress, by passing on the problem obviously means this is going to be around for a while.

This debate needs to be constructed in a way that upholds the proud traditions of America. We are a land of immigrants. Whether or not some of us want to admit it, this is a country that was founded by immigrants. And many in this hall's parents or grandparents were immigrants to the United States. And when people come to our country to work hard and realize dreams, it renews our soul; it makes us a better place. And so however this debate is played out here in Rogers or anywhere else, it needs to be conducted by treating people with dignity, and people with honor. (Applause.)

Yes, sir, thank you, sir. The proud member of the VFW.

Bush is a real nutcase on this. If you read his immigration platform on the Republican National Committee website, it says he supports legalizing illegals and putting them on a patch to citizenship, but that he opposes amnesty!!

He thinks amnesty is "instant Citizenship"! Heck, even legal immigrants don't get instant Citizenship!! What a nutjob. He created his own definition of amnesty, to heck with what the dictionary, legal experst, and the American people say!!

Just like he tried to dictate what would happen with the invasion of Iraq, it didn't go like he wanted because he is a crazy idiot!

Mexico deported them to us, why cannot we deport them back? Because you are a traitor, that is why. If I had been there I would have booed him endlessly.

What needs to happen is chertoff arrested and placed in hand cuffs... bush IMPEACHED and led away from the White house in hand cuffs after his trial for TREASON... We go after businesses; shutting the companies down if they cannot comply with Federal law... all government freebes closed down (HUD Housing, welfare, schools and medical aid other than true emergencies)... even then I would arrest the indivuals if they could not pay the fee. What ever the out come, Mexico would be billed and until the bill was payed I would withold any remittenses to Mexico. Attrician thru enforement would be the rule and making it a felony to be undocumented Illegal Alien in America. I would have a 60 day grace period for illegals to leave then open up the detention camps for hard labor picking the maters and tators if they failed to comply with the law

Its called hard love baby... sorry

Bush is repeating his usual BS, such as the jobs Americans supposedly aren't doing. Note this excerpt from a recent editorial by Mark Krikorian from the CIS that destroys this myth:

"There is no economic need for foreign labor, legal or illegal. There are an estimated 12 million illegal aliens in the United States, with perhaps 7 million of them in the labor market — either working or actively looking for work. But contrary to myths about "jobs Americans won't do," there is no major job category that is dominated by these illegal workers. The Census Bureau groups all jobs in the country into 473 categories, and in 2003-2004, only three small categories had even the tiniest majority of immigrant workers, legal and illegal. The large majority of America's taxi drivers, housekeepers, janitors, dishwashers, landscapers and construction laborers are native-born Americans."

Bush keeps saying we can't deport 11 million Illegal Aliens when in fact
it is closer to 38 million Illegal Aliens.
