Illegal immigrants

I continue to follow articles in The Star regarding illegal immigration issues. I consider myself extremely knowledgeable about what unchecked illegal immigration can do to an area. I now reside in Kansas City, Mo., after living in Orange County, south of Los Angeles for the past 50 years.

In that time, millions of illegal immigrants arrived. I watched as the following took place:

Many areas took on the on the look of a Third World country, with trash and graffiti everywhere. In addition, dozens of emergency rooms closed because of financial woes caused by lack of health insurance and overwhelming use of these facilities as primary- care providers.

Most important, the school districts were devastated. Non-English speaking students, minimal parent involvement and large class sizes led to overworked facilities and teachers. All of this resulted in some of the lowest school test scores in the nation.

Do not be misled by the so-called benefits of cheap labor and increased tax revenues. It is a poor trade-off for the quality of life you will be giving up. Kansas City should be very fearful of what is coming if illegal immigration is allowed to go unchecked.
