Gonzales: Volunteers aren't the best way to address illegal immigration

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. U-S Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says civilian volunteers patrolling for illegal immigrants in Arizona have the right to assemble at border. But he says their approach isn't an effective way to stop people from sneaking into the country.

Gonzales was in Scottsdale today meeting with other federal prosecutors.

Since April 1st, about 750 volunteers have patrolled a 23-mile stretch of desert between Naco and Douglas to try to stem the flow of immigrants. The Arizona border is the busiest illegal entry point on the Mexican border.

Immigration advocates and border patrol officials have raised concerns about the Minuteman Project. And President Bush has said that he is opposed to "vigilantes."

Isn't an effective way? Somebody remind this clueless clown that the entire Naco area that the MMP patrolled was shut down and illegal alien traffic was diverted West. What does this idiot not get? You put bodies at the border and they won't come through. DUH!

If we didn't have this stupid anchor baby policy this clown would never have been eligible to be an AG in the first place and a horrible AG at that.
