Wow so let me get this straight if a state makes laws that suport fedral laws on immigration they get sued by the feds. If they make a laws that undermines fedral law than it good for the rest of the country no law suites. Hmm sounds like the feds are a bad joke!

I do think that the surrounding, or any other states for that matter ought to file suit. As the individual states are not to determine who can be admitted or choose citizens that would effect the rest.

Sanctuary cities and states ought to be sued as well by other states.

The way I understand the intentions of the Constitution in regards to immigration, is, that the states cannot be left to themselves to determine the numbers, or the regions, or religious natures of the potential immigrants as one state would be imposing upon another, as those immigrants could then move to another state where that may offend such a state.

The congress critters are supposed to have this debate at the federal level, where all states are represented.

Am I wrong in my understanding?

If they are not going to sue the other States for enacting immigration laws, they should disregard lawsuit against Arizona, because it seems strange to just sue one State, and not the other States.

A Couple more paragraphs from the story:

The guest-worker bill, however, has been derided by a broad range of groups, ranging from the American Civil Liberties Union to tea-party members, as unconstitutional. It is also currently the subject of a repeal movement.

Shurtleff, who just returned from Washington, D.C., and met with immigration officials in the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said there is appetite for Utah’s approach, as evidenced by several states either looking into, or adopting, copycat compacts.

Already, Maine and Indiana have adopted Utah-style compacts, and other states such as Kansas, Texas and Florida are moving toward similar approaches.
