I've said this several times. When it comes to emergency care it is a sticky wicket. No one wants anyone to die by being denied care; however our system has been abused to a point that is overwhelming the healthcare system and facilities. Our hospitals are having a hard time remaining solvent.

EMTALA needs to be reformed so that non-emergent cases can be turned away and directed to clinics/physicians as appropriate. EMTALA rules regarding true emergency cases involving illegal aliens need to be revised to allow ERs to stabilize them and send them to hospitals in Mexico. Prenatal care and colds are NOT an emergencies!
