CA - Border Patrol agents apprehend sex offender in desert

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro station arrested a convicted sex offender in the Mount Signal desert area on Thursday, according to a press release from the local station.

The 39-year-old man was apprehended by Border Patrol agents after he attempted to enter the U.S. illegally from Mexico at around 8:50 p.m. The man was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol Station where agents identified him as Hector Maya Ramirez, a citizen of Mexico.

Criminal record checks revealed that Maya is a convicted sex offender. Maya was charged in the state of Wisconsin for 4th degree sexual assault, according to the press release. Maya also has two convictions for illegal entry after being previously removed.
