Border Patrol agents seize $100K in drug money

SAN CLEMENTE -- Border Patrol agents seized $109,944 in illegal drug money at the San Clemente border checkpoint on Monday, according to a report released today.

A Toyota Camry driver, whose name was withheld, tried to skirt an inspection area about 5 p.m. and was pulled over, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. A dog found the cash in the trunk, and the driver was jailed in Vista, according to CBP.

Drug Enforcement Administration Agents confirmed the money came from drug trafficking, CBP agents said.
