Federal agents bust counterfeit document ring in Bakersfield

Investigators say they raided a home in southwest Bakersfield and busted a counterfeit document operation. One man faces felony charges but investigators also arrested three other people for being in the country illegally.

Agents say they are seeing a growing number of these cases in Kern County. More people producing and selling fake IDs, Social Security cards, and green cards.

I hate this business....they pay thier bills, they are hard workers, they mow their lawn, they go to church, so therefore anything else they do is fine and dandy. Also the false accusations of our enforcement officers. I can not believe in a million years, they come in, turn the AC on and raid a fridge. I have never had an officer even sit down in my home, even when I asked them to. It just doesn't ring true.

My first thought was why isn't document counterfeiting treated as aggressively as money counterfeiting?

Exactly. Heck they could print documents saying you had degrees you didn't have, credit you didn't have, anything.
