Immigration legislation: Latinos asks S.C. to reconsider

    http://www.thestate.com/business/story/423929.html

Diana Salazar, Director of the Latino Association of Charleston, center, and a group of cocerned Latino's from Charleston, called on S.C. Governor Mark Sanford, Tuesday, to veto the Immigration Bill. "We will be asking the governor to veto the Immigration bill," Salazar said. " We believe that the bill places undue, unfair and unnecessart burdens on small businesses."

Immigration legislation: Latinos asks S.C. to reconsider

On the eve of Gov. Mark Sanford’s signing an immigration bill into law, a dozen Latino residents from Charleston staged a protest at the State House.

Holding handmade posters, the group made one last effort Tuesday to fight back the bill that would regulate businesses’ hiring practices and bar illegal immigrants from attending state colleges.

“We’re here one more time to say, ‘Reconsider it,’â€

    HELL YEAH!

Can this rub off in NC? I hope so!
Unless we get those criminals & make them pay for what they have done to our country and the lawlessness they have sponsored, we are just another Mexico ourselves!

    Why isn't it a group---

Why isn't it a group---of Irish or Italians or Polish or any number of other ethnic groups. Oh, they are here legally! That explains it.

Let me get this straight now, since our state legislators listened to the citizens of South Carolina instead of the Chamber of Commerce and the Farm Bureau and other special interests, they are now racists. We are now bigots because we demanded in masse that we wanted our laws enforced. Noelle Phillips always comes in with the super low estimate of 75,000 to 150,000 illegal aliens here so as to minimize their impact on the state. The true figures are close to half a million. 30,000 illegal kids are in our schools alone.

We have them on the run! On Mayday 2006, 5,000 illegal aliens gathered in Columbia to demand amnesty, Now, Ms. Open Borders Salazar managed to gather 12 illegals and supporters. She has fallen far in the last 2 years. She had stars in her eyes then, now she resorts to threats and screams of racism because her agenda failed.

Maybe she should take her rants to the office of our infamous Senator, Lindsey Graham, because he will listen to her and give his support. He falls right into Salazar's line of thinking by referring to us as racists and bigots. We demanded that our legislators listen to us this time around and come our primary on June 10th, Graham is going to wish that he had listened to us instead of LaRaza.

The public is formally invited to our protest of Senator Lindsey Graham this Saturday evening at 530 pm on Senate Street in downtown Columbia. Senator Graham always sneaks in at his engagements because he knows we will be out in force to protest his policies. And he is very worried, if he loses the primary that will send reverberations across this entire country and that is exactly what the citizens of South Carolina want to do! We are fed up with the open borders mouthpieces and plan on sending them the strongest message possible.

loneprotester, i am with you. We are not racist nor bigots. What has taken place in teh last 2 decades is total dereliction of duty with 10s of millions of foreigners, lured by the economic incentive from businesses and our government, breaking into our country. Today we see where this trend would lead us. 1) total breakdown of law and order 2) unbearable burden on the legal tax payer 3) erosion of the American identity 4) forcing us to adopt their language 5) ultimate balkanization of our country.

This is not the same as previous immigration waves, this is based on illegality and hubris. This time it is about a demographic hegemony agenda. Some people and some communities do see a time when they will have a New Latin America, right here in the US.

We need to spank our leaders into ensuring our laws are enforced. We are Americans and as such DECIDE what our country is about. American are not about to lie down and take this non-sense. You want to come here? Well let's see what's good for Americans and for America (it's not about you) and then we can put in place an better orderly way to come and settle here and of course because you want to be part of this GREAT NATION, ultimately as Americans and that includes ENGLISH. This is not an opportunity to come here and have a better latin american experience in the US because the economy is better. NO! If that's what you want then go home because we will not welcome you.

Salazar agreed the Hispanic community could have been more vocal, but many have been intimidated by the debate. They fear they will be targeted by police and immigration officials so they stay silent, she said.

This is very telling and proves it's not a hispanic only issue. The only ones who would fear immigration officials would be people who are here illegally.

It's the activists and their organizations (who profit from illegal aliens) who don't want our laws enforced. Why not? They get paid federal money to run their "organizations". When illegal aliens go home, these organizations lose their funding. They can't have that, they must protect the illegals. The employers of illegal aliens have the same agenda. They are paying less than they did 20 years ago and pocketing the difference.

If you take the illegal aliens and their activist organizations out of the equation, who is left on the pro-illegal alien side? Anyone?
