La Joya police told Action 4 News that a man have been after for months manages to get away thanks to help from his family.
Police said Miguel Garcia is the suspected driver in June chase that ended with a one man injured and the seizure of 1,200 pounds of marijuana.
Officers said they received a tip that Garcia was home and went knocking on his door.
That's when police say family members got in the way and Garcia jumped out a window.
Garcia was last seen wearing a life preserver.
It's believed he swam across the Rio Grande and into Mexico.
Garcia's mother and sister were turned over to the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol.
The sister is also facing state charges after she allegedly pushed one of the officers when he tried to run after Garcia
