SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – The SJC Americans plan to rally in support of the U.S. Border Patrol from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Alipaz Plaza at Del Obispo and Alipaz streets, where several business owners complained recently that immigration patrols appear to be driving away customers.

If it rains, the rally will be postponed a week, organizers said.

Tuning Acosta, center, tells San Juan Capistrano Mayor Lon Uso, sitting at left, and Chamber of Commerce President Larry Thomas, standing at left, that a Border Patrol presence at Alipaz Plaza has driven away many customers from his income-tax service.

SJC Americans is a 3-year-old political group founded in response to problems the group says are tied to illegal immigration, such as crime. Critics have said the group has made living in San Juan more difficult for Mexican immigrants, regardless of their legal status.

Maybe the Mayor and the Chamber better check the legal status of the people there in the tax office!
