A 32-year-old San Anselmo man was charged with molesting a teenage girl for more than a year, according to court documents.

Efrain Yax Gonzalez was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges of lewd acts with a child 14 or 15 years old, sexual battery and child molestation. Gonzalez, appearing with a public defender and a court translator, declined to enter a plea, and Judge Lynn O'Malley Taylor set another hearing for next week.

Gonzalez is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The investigation began on Aug. 23, when Child Protective Services reported the allegations to the Twin Cities Police Department. The girl, who is now 16 years old, was allegedly molested from August 2008 through October 2009, according to a criminal complaint by Deputy District Attorney Linda Witong.

Police arrested Gonzalez based on the girl's statements, an interview with Gonzalez, and a tape-recorded phone call between the two, Twin Cities police Detective Cheryl Paris reported.

In addition to the molestation case, Gonzalez is being detained on a no-bail federal immigration hold.
