Study: We need grads to stay put: State economy keeping workers with college degrees away

SAN FRANCISCO - California's economy could sputter over the next two decades because not enough college-educated workers are moving here, and the state can't graduate current residents fast enough, according to a new report.
The nation's most populous state needs to nearly triple the number of highly skilled immigrants who come here every year from other states and countries. If it fails, California won't meet the 20-year economic benchmarks set by the California Department of Transportation in 2005, the Public Policy Institute of California reported Wednesday.
The state will need at least 8.3 million college-educated workers by 2025 if it wants to maintain its current growth rates. That's a 75-percent increase from 2005 and 3.2 million short of what it will have in 18 years if the state's immigration and graduation rates remain constant.

What I don't understand is the "need for at least 8.3 million college educated workers". We have 40 million people here right now so we must already have at least 8.3 million college educated workers. Maybe they mean private sector workers who pay taxes and don't include all the college educated government workers who suck our taxes.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

It's fishy because I believe it is just pro H-1B and massive green card propaganda, of which we are seeing a lot lately. The story goes, our older smart people are going away, we aren't graduating enough new smart people because we need 20 billion gajillion, so let's bring the smart ones in from overseas. The argument ignores several facts. The baby boomers are not retiring tomorrow. Many of them can't afford to and many don't want to. Other nations such as Finland are looking at this situation and not writing the older workers off so fast. Another point - you're right, this is one area that already has too many people. And, it won't keep the poorly educated illegals from coming, as we know. We probably graduate more than enough college students to satisfy the reasonable demands of a non-overheated society, but that is not what business is after. Business wants engineers and other professionals to be a dime a dozen, that's what this will do. They also want to move older, more expensive workers out to the curb and replace them with entry- or near entry level workers. Doing this will do accomplish that.

Calif. has a huge denial problem, they can't even admit why they have so many middle and upper class moveing out of there, 2 million alone last year. They are in BIG trouble, they have not caught on that people do not want to live in Mexico.
Well the Hispanic are going to be in trouble now, because they are going to start bringing in Chinese for the high paying jobs just wait until they take over their schools and the hispanic's are the minorityPlease support ALIPAC's fight to save American Jobs & Lives from illegal immigration by joining our free Activists E-Mail Alerts (CLICK HERE)
