Who?

Unless you're a regular on the Tea Party circuit, you've probably never heard of fringe Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Naritelli, a Carlsbad accountant.

Well, former Assemblyman Steve Baldwin has and the East County Republican has become the first person anybody has ever heard of to throw his support to Naritelli.

Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman and state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner are locked in a bitter and expensive fight for the Republican nomination in the June 8 primary election.

Hard-core anti-abortion conservatives don't think much of either one of them.

"I'm not interested in electing establishment Republicans anymore," Baldwin said. "We've been doing that for decades and look where that has gotten us. Much of the Tea Party movement is behind Larry; let's get the entire conservative movement behind him. This guy is the real deal."

Baldwin served in the Assembly between 1994 and 2000.
