Border Patrol agents in south Texas captured a fugitive wanted in Texas for indecency with a child and three members of the MS-13 transnational crime gang were arrested over the weekend.

Agents assigned to the Falfurrias Border Patrol Station in Brooks County, 80 miles north of the Texas/Mexico border, located a Salvadoran national who was trying to navigate his way around the checkpoint located on Highway 281. Illegal immigrants frequently attempt to hike through the ranch lands in this county to circumvent detection at the checkpoint. Agents arrested the Salvadoran and took him to the Falfurrias Station for processing, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Marlene Castro in McAllen, Texas.

During processing, a records check revealed the man was wanted in Dallas County, Texas, and had an active warrant from the sheriff’s office on a charge of Indecency with a Child/Sexual Contact. The warrant was issued on March 17, 2015, Castro stated. The Salvadoran fugitive will be turned over to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. It is likely that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will place an immigration detainer on the alleged child molester, but Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez has previously announced her office may not honor immigration detainers on a case-by-case basis.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced in October 2015 that sanctuary policies like those announced by Sheriff Lopez will not be tolerated in Texas. He pledged that any jurisdiction in Texas that will not honor immigration detainers will not be allowed to obtain state law enforcement funding grants.

“Your refusal to fully participate in a federal law enforcement program intended to keep dangerous criminals off the streets leaves the State no choice but to take whatever actions are necessary to protect our fellow Texans,” Abbott said at the time in a written statement to Lopez. “Now more than ever, it is essential that state, federal, and local law enforcement work collaboratively to protect our fellow Texans and to ensure that our laws are upheld, not disregarded.”

Other agents working in Starr County, along the Texas Border with Mexico, apprehended two additional illegal aliens who had recently crossed the border illegally. The two individuals were from Honduras and Guatemala. The illegal aliens admitted to Border Patrol agents they were members of the hyper-violent transnational criminal Mara Salvatrucha gang (MS-13).

Other agents working in Kingsville, also located about 80 miles north of the Texas/Mexico border on Highway 77, apprehended a Salvadoran national and arrested him. During processing, the agents determined the Salvadoran national was also a member of the MS-13 gang.

Breitbart Texas has reported extensively on the violent criminal activities carried out by members of the MS-13 gang accross the U.S.

Castro stated that all of the foreign nationals were referred to Homeland Security Investigations for possible prosecution. They were also processed for removal
