Cardinal Mahoney retiring, can now work full-time on behalf of illegal aliens

On Sunday, Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony formally retired and passed the leadership of the archdiocese onto another. Recently, he wrote recently that he was “encouraged by the prospects of helping these silent millions in our midst.” (Those “silent millions” Mahony speaks of are the millions of illegal aliens now inside this country, taking jobs away from U.S. citizens and bankrupting municipalities and hospitals across the country).
Of course, Cardinal Mahony has a long history of interjecting his opinions into political issues, as well as offering aid and comfort to illegal aliens.
In April 2010, Cardinal Mahony spoke out against the Arizona state legislature and the passage of SB1070 which makes it a crime for illegal aliens to be present in Arizona, while failing to mention the reasons behind the need for such a law (An explosion in violent crimes and drug trafficking, fueled by an unprotected border).
On his blog, Cardinal Mahony rather foolishly compared the measure, which allows police officers throughout the state to identify and remove illegal aliens from their streets to “German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques.”
Mahony wrote: “The Arizona legislature just passed the country's most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law. The tragedy of the law is its totally false reasoning: that immigrants come to our country to rob, plunder, and consume public resources. That is not only false, the premise is nonsense.”
While it is true that relatively few legal “immigrants” come here to “rob” or “plunder,” the same cannot be said for illegal aliens.
In 2006, Cardinal Mahony directed all priests in his 288 parish archdiocese to simply ignore any federal law which requires anyone working on behalf of the church to inquire into the citizenship of anyone seeking help (The Catholic church offers assistance to illegal aliens applying for various welfare programs). The directive was given by Mahony in response to the immigration bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in December 2005, which declared all illegal aliens felons, and mandated the prosecution to anyone who knowingly aided them.
While it is true that relatively few legal “immigrants” come here to “rob” or “plunder,” the same cannot be said for illegal aliens.
So, why does Mahony seem to have so little respect for this country?
For many American Catholics, it has become obvious that the church will never take seriously the issue of children being victimized by child-raping priests. It has also became obvious that the church will never take true responsibility for the role the leaders of the church played in harboring those monsters. It is little wonder that so many now well-informed American Catholics refuse to ever return their children as well as their donations to the church.
The illegal aliens represent exactly what the Catholic Church needs right now...largely uneducated and devoted worshipers with jobs. The illegal aliens will be all-too happy to place their children in Catholic schools.
If Congress ever grants amnesty to illegal aliens, they will fill the now-darkened parishes throughout the U.S. and become the driving force behind the American Catholic Church. Most of these people speak very little English and most lack even an elementary school education, they are much more likely to keep their mouths shut once the priests begin to have their way with their children. The shell game of shifting molesting priests around will begin again and the faithful will continue to fork-over ten percent of their wages to the church.
For the church, it is simply a matter of survival. Without the presence of tens of millions of Latin American immigrants, the American Catholic Church will be forced to close their doors for good.
Though the real motivation behind the church’s support for illegal immigration is rarely mentioned by our elected representatives, one man has spoken out and gave Mahoney a public lesson in humility.
Last year, Arizona State Sen. Russell Pearce responded to Mahony’s comments on the nationally syndicated Michael Smerconish radio show, saying: “He's the last guy that ought to be speaking out. This guy has a history of protecting and moving predators around in order to avoid detection by the law. He has no room to talk.”
Pearce described Mahony as a “guy who's been protecting child molesters and predators all of his life.”
