CBP Officers Apprehend Fugitives at Nogales Port of Entry

Nogales, Ariz. — Customs and Border Protection officers screening travelers entering and exiting the country at the Nogales port of entry apprehended two Mexican men wanted on outstanding charges in Arizona and Nevada on Friday.

The first apprehension came at 9:30 p.m., when officers queried 40-year-old Orlando Ulloa-Escalante in their systems and discovered a warrant for his arrest out of Nevada on charges of fraud. He was taken into custody and turned over to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.

The second apprehension came at a little after 11 p.m., when officers queried 28-year-old Ricardo Velasco-Perez in their systems and discovered two warrants for his arrest out of Gilbert and Maricopa County on probation charges stemming from narcotics violations. He was also turned over to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.
