TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say almost $72,000 of undeclared currency has been found in a hidden compartment of a Tucson woman's car as she tried to cross into Mexico from Douglas, Ariz.

They say the 38-year-old woman was traveling with her 6-year-old daughter when customs officers stopped her sedan for further inspection at the Douglas port. That's when the $71,600 was discovered.

The name of the woman hasn't been released.

Authorities say she was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security. The girl was turned over to a family member.

With the seizure, customs agents in Arizona have intercepted nearly $1 million so far in January.
