The Mexican Consul will visit Roanoke

The Hispanic organization Avancemos Roanoke has reported that the Mexican Mobile Consul will visit Roanoke on June 21 and June 22 of this year. As in previous visits the Mobile Consul will bring a large staff to work with the public at Preston Park Elementary School located at 3142 Preston Avenue near Williamson Road.

During the consulate services applicants will be able to obtain a Mexican passport or replace an expired passport, and will also have the opportunity to obtain a consular ID card. All requests require that the person present the necessary documentation to prove Mexican citizenship: birth certificate, voter registration card or school records.

In those cases where the applicant wants to replace a passport, it is necessary to have the expired passport. In situations where the documentation requested is for minors, both parents must be present and they have to prove Mexican citizenship. If a person has lost a passport or the consular ID card, he or she has to provide a police report that indicates that the document has been lost. It is important to indicate that there is a charge for every petition.

Because of the large number of applicants, it is required that those who request assistance on June 21 and 22 must have an appointment. The following days and locations have been set for the purpose of obtaining an appointment.

June 14 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at St. Gerard's Catholic Church located at 809 Orange Ave., Roanoke.

June 8 and June 15 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Methodist church at 3333 Williamson Road, Roanoke.

It is important that Mexican citizens who reside in this area of Virginia take the opportunity to utilize the services of the Mobile Consul to update their documentation.

Finally, it must be said that the Mobile Consulate of Mexico has indicated that no one will be seen without an appointment. If you require more information, please call (540) 776-5416 , (540) 989-8931, or contact the Mexican Consulate inWashington, D.C., at (202) 736-1000.
