ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Nine illegal immigrants were busted at the Orlando International Airport Friday after they were found working in a secure area with nobody watching them.

The Transportation Safety Administration got a tip that TSA employees were escorting non-badged construction workers to a secure area and not watching them. When federal investigators showed up they realized the workers were illegal immigrants from Honduras.

The TSA escorts have security clearance and are suppose to escort unauthorized workers to the jobsite and remain with them the entire time they are working. The workers were in terminal late Thursday night working on the floors near the American Airlines gates. The US Customs and Border Protection would not released the names of the workers but FOX 35 did find out that six of the workers will be deported and two others will have hearings to decide if they were allowed to work here. The other is an illegal immigrant who has already been deported twice. The US Customs and Border Patrol calls him a criminal who was actually wearing an ankle monitoring system at the time. He was busted for DUI and is being held by authorities.

Carolyn Fennell, the spokesperson for OIA, says they do not allow illegal immigrants to work at the airport and it wasn't a serious security threat because the workers did go through the security checkpoints to make sure they didn't have any weapons.

Authorities are investigating who the contractor is and why he had illegals working for him.

Yeah, right, they went through security. How about the guy with the ankle bracelet???? Didn't that make the metal detector go off? What did security think about that??? I can hear them, "oh, this guy just has an ankle bracelet, he's probably not a convicted felon, you can proceed".
I have a lot of faith in security in that airport!!
