Border Patrol agents find 1,520 pounds of pot in three incidents

TUCSON - Border Patrol agents in Southern Arizona seized over 1,520 pounds of marijuana, worth over $650,000, in three incidents since Saturday.
This morning, Casa Grande Station agents apprehended a 24-year-old Mexican national for illegally entering the United States, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection. He was found with four backpacks holding 210 pounds of pot, and admitted to being a member of a Mexican gang. He faces federal drug charges.
On Tuesday, Casa Grande Station agents discovered eight bundles of marijuana weighing 403 pounds abandoned with a loaded assault rifle. The drugs will be turned over to the DEA, the release states.
On Saturday evening, Ajo Station agents found an abandoned truck containing 907 pounds of marijuana. The drugs were turned over to the DEA.
