Chamber Of Commerce President To GOP: Pass Immigration Reform Or Sit Out 2016

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue promised Monday to keep pushing for immigration reform, quipping that the GOP should just stay home in the next presidential election if it doesn't address the issue.

"If the Republicans don't do it, they shouldn't bother to run a candidate in 2016," Donohue said at an event to discuss the nation's infrastructure. "I mean, think about that. Think about who the voters are."

Pro-immigration reform conservatives have been saying since the 2012 election that if Republicans don't get on board with an immigration bill, they will doom their chances with Latino voters, a majority of whom support reform. After GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's disastrous result with Latino voters, Republicans quickly acted to draft and pass a comprehensive reform bill in the Senate. The Chamber of Commerce, led by Donohue, helped reach a deal on worker provisions with the AFL-CIO labor federation that was instrumental in moving the bill.

But immigration reform has gone nowhere in the House. Donohue said he believes the House could pass a bill this year, and his organization will keep up the pressure. Last week, the Chamber of Commerce announced a $3 million ad buy that will be supportive of Republican candidates, including two who have been supportive of immigration reform: Reps. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) and David Valadao (R-Calif.).

"I do believe that we're absolutely crazy if we don't take advantage of having passed an immigration bill out of the Senate," Donohue said. "Because going back and doing it again might be harder. Do something rational in the House and put it together, and let's get the three or four things we really need there. And we've got a lot of heat on that and we're going to put a lot more."

Frankly I'm disgusted by the Chamber of Commerce, in truth they are worried about cheap labor and consumers of there products ignoring the fact the America taxpayers must subsidize there new employees and help purchase those products via food stamps and other welfare. Same old dance, raise profits no matter the cost to America workers.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.

Just like the Banksters; all profits are private; all of the down side the public pays for to cover more Bankster Profits as shown during the bailout of the Banks and Banksters

thats EXACTLY what the National Chamber of Commerce is Pulling on the American Taxpayers

all Profits from Amnesty will go to Organizations under the National Chamber of Commerce; which will funnel money back up-to the CoC

all costs of Amnesty are THROWN on the Taxpayers back

this is Clearly a RICO Act violation with the CoC using a Humanitarian cause to profit from

thats why they have skin in the game... follow the money and you find the crooks

the CoC has learned how to Bilk Taxpayers and the CoC'c Momma's Needs a New Pair of Shoes

Yikes! Another repetition of the Big Lie. RINO Repubs are pushing amnesty, to please their big-money donors. Those donors want docile surplus labor. These same RINOS already know that Latinos will vote Democrat, because Latinos believe that Repubs don't care about ordinary people.

Threads re jobs often get a good response. How about if we wage a campaign for a bill which will require Universal E-Verify.
