I believe that all children in US tax payer paid for schools should be taught in English, our national language. I believe any US citizen who wants their children educated in another language (in grade school) should do it themselves or pay for it themselves. I know a 16 year old anchor baby (whose parents now have pink cards), who has no accent when she speaks English. I asked her when she learned English. She said that in California, she was in bilingual education (meaning she was segregated in Mexican only classes where the teaching was in Spanish) until the 4th grade, when she was forced to be in English only class. It was during the 4th grade that she said she really learned English.

I found the below video, of an elementary class in Texas to be quite interesting. Although the video is in Spanish, you don't need to understand Spanish to see what is going on. Notice how many of the written words are in Spanish, the teacher, the origin of the students to determine what language may be spoken in the home and what language is being pushed in the school.

It looks to me like the term "bilingual" is being redefined, so that English really does become the second language for all citizens. It doesn't have to be this way. I know of an illegal family whose 6 year old is reading English books, where the family only speaks English in their home, so that he doesn't get confused. So how "confused" might the cute, little Asian girl be, if, by chance, her parents native language is not English (but who learned English to be US citizens). So, let's guess--how many of the students do not have US citizens as parents?
