The father-in-law and brother-in-law of actress and former Miss USA, Ali Landry, were kidnapped and murdered in Mexico, allegedly by a Mexican drug cartel.Juan Manuel Gómez Fernández and Juan Manuel Gómez Monteverde—the brother and father of film director Alejandro Monteverde—were both allegedly kidnapped earlier this month after leaving their home in Tamico, Mexico, Latin Times reports. They were reported missing on September 4 and their bodies were discovered in Veracruz, Mexico on September 19. Authorities also found a car near where the bodies were found.
Juan Monteverde has business ties to a restaurant called La Pecerita, which is said to have reported on drug cartel activities in the past. It's known that there is cartel activity in the area. Reports indicate that the cartel may have held the men for ransom, and received the money, but killed the men regardless. According to The Advocate, kidnapping for ransom is common in the area.
Alejandro Monteverde (Little Boy, Bella) has been married to Landry—who first rose to fame as the Doritos Girl—since 2006. They have three children.

It is frightening and maddening that the government of the USA and the voters of the nation allow American citizens to be killed by Mexican nationals on the Mexico side of the border and our side without rising up. Our government could stop it in a minute, as trump has proposed. Threaten to close trade relations is powerful since we hold the deficits usual. Tell the Mexican government to produce and turn over the murderers in 10 days or we are coming militarized to find them, and while there totally destroy all cartels.
My fellow Americans, we did not have to take this crap 25 years ago, and we should not take it now! Cowardice is the only thing that causes us to lie down and be trod over - proud Americans?

Most of the "Americans" killed in Mexico are Mexican/Americans with ties to the drug cartels.

Along the U.S.-Mexico border it isn’t uncommon for kidnappings to be carried out in the U.S. and for victims to be taken back to Mexico, according to one security expert.
“By far, most victims are somehow tied to criminal activities across the border,” said Tristan Reed, a Mexico security analyst for Stratfor, an Austin-based intelligence firm.

Probe Continues in Killing of Mexican Filmmaker's Relatives
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
SEPT. 24, 2015, 11:31 P.M. E.D.T.
VERACRUZ, Mexico — Authorities in Mexico's Gulf coast state of Veracruz say there have been few advances in the investigation into the killings of the father and brother of Mexican movie director Alejandro Monteverde a week after their bodies were found.
Omar Zuniga, spokesman for the Veracruz state prosecutor's office, said Thursday that the investigation into the slaying of Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez and Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde continues.
Officials are testing a vehicle allegedly used by those responsible. It had license plates from the neighboring state of Tamaulipas, which borders Texas.
The bodies were found Sept. 19 in Pueblo Viejo in the northern part of Veracruz near the border with Tamaulipas. The men had been reported missing Sept. 4.

In view of the violence in Mexico, it's beyond me why any intelligent American citizen would go to Mexico by choice, especially as a tourist. With choice comes personal responsibility.
