Churches Offering ‘Safe Places’ to Migrants Crossing Canadian Border

These good Christians get them here for their neighbors to support. They are not "migrants" they are illegal foreign nationals that have not been vetted nor had health screening. By acting in an illegal and political fashion, they should lose their tax exempt status and the leaders should be charged. IMO

Migrants crossing the U.S.-Canadian border are now looking to circumvent deportation under President-Elect Donald Trump with the help of faith organizations.

Since the start of 2015, over 500 have illegally crossed the U.S. northern border, a region that is rarely focused on but is proving to cause issues as more refugees are reportedly coming from Canada after being placed there.

Migrants are looking to be harbored by churches, hospitals, and schools to avoid potential deportation under Trump’s proposed immigration plans, according to CBC News.

Doran Schrantz, the director of a faith organization geared to help illegal immigrants, launched a statewide effort in Minnesota to create “safe places” for migrants who face deportation after crossing into the country from the northern border.

“You are committing to let your church be a place that an immigrant can go and live, essentially indefinitely, while they go through the due process that would be due to them, if they have some kind of immigration violation or deportation order,” Schrantz told CBC News.

Since starting the effort, Schrantz said there are now over 200 “faith leaders” who have promised to accept illegal immigrants into their churches to evade federal immigration law.
Schrantz’s organization is “training” those faith leaders on the legalities of immigration law and how they can harbor illegal immigrants, saying “Its immigration 101 training. People are taking this incredibly seriously.”

It's always good to hear reports about our northern border.

My question is, what is the nationality of these illegals? Are they actually Canadian?

What difference would it make? Illegal is illegal. Their immigration status in Canada is a trivial point, especially when Canada itself is suffering the same problem. Recall that the rat in the senate, Ted Cruz, claimed dual citizenship with Canada and was born in Canada.

Canadians as illegals are an additional problem for pursuing illegal immigrants because they are more likely to speak English. This, another reason that citizenship status should be something is always easily observable by law enforcement as a matter identification.

It makes a big difference. It is much easier for a Canadian national to enter the USA than a national of most other countries. It is also much easier for a Canadian to blend into the general USA population. It would cost more in travel expenses to deport someone who isn't Canadian or Mexican.

Whoa, pull your fangs in, pkskyali.

I was just curious if these were actually Canadians or folks from other countries using the Northern border for its ease of crossing. For example, could folks from other countries find it easier to fly into Canada and then illegally cross the border on foot?

Sorry if my inquiry bothered you. Of course illegal is illegal, but that's not really relevant to my question.

    I see your point.

My concern was that somehow native Canadians were immune to being illegal immigrants. You hear similar opinions in Europe complaining about immigrants and couching the problem in terms of Muslim or African immigrants only. Too often these people are immigrants themselves and are as a much a nuisance as the Muslims. Their arguments reduce to an argument of open borders for white people only.

How many times have we heard reports of "white" girls, or "European" girls being attacked by immigrants. I always comment that I want to know the immigration status of the victims no matter what their ethnic identity is. If the victims are immigrants also, no matter how European they are, the problem is not just Middle Eastern immigrants, but immigrants in general.
