CO: UNC Board supports in-state tuition for illegal aliens

UNC board first to call for ‘tuition equity’ law

Arguing that higher education is beyond reach for many Latino students in Colorado, the University of Northern Colorado board of trustees passed a resolution supporting legislation that would grant in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.

Last week, the board voted unanimously to support “tuition equityâ€

HUGE MISTAKE. Illegal aliens ARE NOT IN-STATE LEGAL CITIZENS OR EVEN UNITED STATES CITIZENS. What is the UNC going to say when Americans from other states want in-state tuition too? No? What a bunch of bull crap. Especially at a time when American familys are struggling because of the economy.

DEPORT ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS - AND THAT MEANS "THEIR KIDS" TOO! Dont let them go to school here. Get rid of "No Child Left Behind".

Justice is not just blind...in this case it is un-just!

It's the same nonsence........"No child left behind" unless they happen to be American children! Col. will pay hearly for this stupid unlawful decision! It's only too bad that the good legal citizens and possibly the rest of us end up paying for this incentive for illegals.

Any student who graduates from the Colorado education system has obtained a terrific advantage compared with otyher workers in Latin America at the expense of the people American citizens and voters their families violated. What is tragic is not the inavailability of in state tuition for the illegal alien students it is continued availability of K-12 at the expense of the American citizens. It costs the American people money to cover the education costs of the illegal aliens who even if they do pay taxes are on the whole net negative costing more as a result of public education and health than they pay in taxes. Where you see a situation like this with UNC what it means is the the greedy self centered UNC bureaucrats who as a public institution are tax recipients favor growing even at the expense and against the will of their own legal constituents the American taxpaying voters. Then they try to rationalize it by taking the attitude that American citizens born to American citizens will never stand up for their rights and that once here we must accept the presence of those who violated us. If we could be press ganged into providing the illegal students with dinner then we can also be made to provide them with an ice cream dessert.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Illegal immigrants should be educated in home countries

    January 17, 2009

On Dec. 19 The Tribune ran an article about possible consideration by the University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees of granting in-state tuition to illegal immigrants and that really turns my crank. The article had the usual slant toward the illegals that we get from the activists; that the pobrecitos have nowhere to go after high school, causing them to drop out of school before completing it, join gangs and otherwise contribute negatively to society. I think we have the wrong cause and effect.

Think for a moment about a young student who lives, say, in Bangor, Maine. If he worked during the summer, and after school he may have paid some income taxes and will certainly have paid hefty Social Security and Medicare contributions. He will carry car insurance because that is the law and parents will enforce it.

So, we have a young man who would like to attend UNC because it offers a course of study not available in Maine. In my example the student from Maine, if anyone, should receive a break on tuition, not a person who is in this country illegally, who likely has paid no taxes, and who may even have applied for and received earned income credit. Just ask District Attorney Ken Buck about illegals filing false tax returns to get earned income credit.

Imagine for a minute that you are an American student, in Mexico illegally, having crossed the border with no visa or other permit.

Imagine that you had the brazen boldness and insolence to demand that you be able to attend medical school under the same terms and conditions applicable to a Mexican citizen (pay nothing for the medical school tuition and then be required to work as an intern for two years at a place of the government’s choice in order to pay back the cost of the medical education).

Demanding that an illegal resident of Mexico should be entitled to the same privileges as a taxpaying Mexican citizen may not go over so well. It might even get you some time in the hoosegow and a huge mordida (bribe) to get out.

One way we can help the illegal stay in school is to make sure that our school counselors are fully aware of and understand the multitude of opportunities available to illegals in their home countries. High school counselors should perhaps take a fact-finding trip to Mexico and Central America to investigate the educational opportunities available for these students if they stay in school and do well here. Some literature explaining the various programs in Spanish would be nice to have, too.

None of my doctors was so fortunate that he (or she) could go to medical school for free. Au contraire, my doctors seemed to all come out of medical school with huge student loans.

If an illegal alien is doing well in secondary school here in the United States, there are many options available to him in Mexico or Central America, and at no or low cost.

The promotion of higher education is a priority of the Mexican government and Mexico has many excellent universities and trade schools offering quality education at low or no cost to its citizens.

Some in this country seem to have trouble with the word “illegal.â€

Tax dollar to the colleges should be cut by the percent of illegals to citizens ratio.

The unfairness to American citizens is glaringly obvious. But another thought is how do they justify this to immigrants who have come legally on student visas? What's the point in having student visas if you can go to college here illegally anyway.........AND do it cheaper?
