DREAMer Thanks Trump, Rips Pelosi & Schumer for 'Using Us as Pawns'

A Mexican native whose mother brought him to America at age 1 said President Trump has shown "leadership and compassion" toward DACA recipients like himself, while Democrats have conversely used them as "pawns."

Hilario Yanez, who goes by Eli, said Trump showed courage to tackle the illegal immigration issue comprehensively during his first year in office.

"Here's a guy who wants to provide a pathway to citizenship for myself and really make a difference in my life," he said, adding that if the president believes a border wall is necessary for national security, then he would support it.

"I think it’s time for people who want to come to the United States to focus... on skills so [they] contribute to the American economy right way," Yanez, who was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas said.

Yanez said top Democrats have "no clear message" on immigration policy, other than to "us[e] us as pawns."

"They never should have shut down the government over DACA," he said, mentioning Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) by name. "There is plenty of time on the table to fix this. March 5 is the deadline."

Yanez said he gets "goosebumps" when he hears the "Star-Spangled Banner" and said he would never take a knee like some athletes have, and declared a willingness to serve in the armed forces if asked.

Stories like this are not helping Trump with his base...

It helps gridlock in the Congress which helps our cause. The DemoQuacks do not want DACAs or DREAMERS lovin' on Trump. It's all they have to work with in the 2018 mid-terms and all they'll have in the 2020 Presidential Race.

Our advocacy really needs to be careful about assessing the "base". As I've posted, the evangelical and religious "base" loves DACA, the churches are all behind a DACA Deal. The business "base" loves DACA, none of the present employers want to lose their employees and have to look for new ones. The political "base" like Ken Paxton in Texas who led the lawsuit against DACA actually supports a Congressional DACA Deal as does Texas Governor Abbott. There were 26 states in the lawsuit against Extended DACA and DAPA, but when Paxton tried to sue on the DACA 2012, the states fell off the wagon and there were only 9. The immigration hawk "base" sold us out faster than a fly on honey with NumbersUSA, CIS and FAIR all proposing a DACA DEAL to White House officials a year ago.

If you don't know where you are or what's going on behind your backs, you won't know where you're going let alone how to get there. ALIPAC has done a great job with the survey it hired done, and to me, this is the most valuable tool to get the word out about how most Republicans feel about a DACA DEAL especially for House Republicans. If we win this fight, it will be with House Republicans listening to their constituents and DemoQuacks who can't risk DREAMERS lovin' on Trump. Together, I think that's enough to kill it.

You're right, it doesn't. Trump's offer of a pathway to citizenship (amnesty) for almost 2 million people is counter to what he promised during his presidential campaign. Of course if your one of those 2 million folks, Trump's offer is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Jim Jordan from Freedom Caucus just announced on Fox News Sunday that Freedom Caucus supports Goodlatte bill which ends chain migration, visa lottery, sanctuary cities, increases funding for interior enforcement and border security including the wall, but gives legalization of some type to the 690,000 DACAS.

The only hope now is gridlock between House and Senate to kill a DACA DEAL. The Senate will pass a fairly clean Dreamer Bill giving Amnesty to 3.2 million, House will pass the Goodlatte bill giving Amnesty to 690,000 DACAs with heavy spending for wall and interior enforcement along with ending chain migration and visa lottery, and there will rest the gridlock.

It also looks like the President's offer of 1.8 million DACAs signed up plus those who might have been eligible had they signed up, is a middle ground anticipating the gridlock. I hope Freedom Caucus stands firm and holds the line and DemoQuacks keep up their effort to refuse Trump what they see as a political victory.
