VERACRUZ, Mexico (AP) - A Mexican official says at least 11 bodies have been left at several places in and around the Gulf port city of Veracruz, two days after gunmen dumped 35 bodies on a busy avenue of the metropolis.

An official in the Mexican armed forces tells The Associated Press that at least 11 bodies have been found in the joined cities of Veracruz and Boca del Rio but it is not clear whether the attacks are related.

The official couldn't be quoted by name for security reasons.

Officials have said a gang linked to Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman unloaded the 35 bound, seminude, tortured bodies of rival gang members beneath an overpass during rush hour Tuesday in front of horrified motorists. Guzman is Mexico's most-wanted drug lord.
