Cops: Dad passed out while driving with tot

A Framingham dad, apparently in an alcohol-induced haze, passed out behind the wheel this weekend at an intersection with the car running and his3-year-old girl in the back seat, police said.
It was a scene that sent one fast-moving witness scurrying to put the car in park and call police.
“We received a call about a man passed out behind the wheel of the car and there was a little girl in the truck, trying to wake up the man for several minutes,” Framingham Lt. Paul Shastany said.
Luis Lala Lema, 24, admitted he had “lots” to drink after police finally roused him from behind the wheel of his pickup truck, still running at an intersection at 5:02 a.m. Saturday, Shastany said.
Lema was arrested and his daughter was taken to the MetroWest Medical Center’s Framingham Union campus as a precaution.
“Due to Lema drinking and driving with her, we wanted to make sure she was alright,” Shastany said.
The Department of Youth Services was notified, and DYS spokeswoman Denise Monteiro said the child’s mother was located. DYS is now doing an evaluation.
It is unclear if Lema, the child and the child’s mother live together. The child is in the custody of her mother.
“We are out there assessing it, and we’re trying to find out how she ended up with the dad, and the mother not knowing he was impaired,” Monteiro said.
Lema was charged with child endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, operating a vehicle without a license and operating a vehicle negligently as to endanger.

Sorry but I see many red flags point to an illegal immigrant
Framingham is also known as "In their homeland, a leading newspaper in Sao Paulo, O Estado de Sao Paulo, has dubbed the town ''the capital of Brazuca" -- essentially, the capital of Brazilian America."
old article but gives you an idea:

Cops say dad drove drunk with child

FRAMINGHAM -- Police charged a Framingham man with child endangerment after they said he was found passed-out drunk at a downtown intersection in his truck Saturday with his 3-year-old daughter sleeping beside him.
Luis Lala Lema, 24, admitted he had "lots" to drink after police finally roused him from a slumber behind the wheel of his F-150, parked while still running at the intersection of Mellen and Winthrop streets at 5:02 a.m., Police Lt. Paul Shastany said.
"We received a call about a man passed out behind the wheel of the car, and there was a little girl in the truck, trying to wake up the man for several minutes," Shastany said.
When police arrived, the caller had put the car in park, and the child was now asleep, Shastany said. The officers looked inside the vehicle and saw Lema sleeping with the vehicle running while the toddler was asleep next to him, Shastany said.
Officer Paul Patriacca tried for several minutes to wake up Lema. Shastany said Patriacca shook the sleeping man and performed what’s called a "sternum rub." The knuckles are rubbed uncomfortably on someone’s sternum to try to awaken them.
"That got a slight reaction, but then nothing," Shastany said.
A few minutes later, Lema jumped forward and tried to put the truck in gear, failed, and laid back in his seat to go back to sleep, Shastany said.
The officers removed Lema from the car, and with the help of a Spanish-speaking officer used as a translator, Lema said he had no license, and he had "lots" to drink, Shastany said.
Lema was arrested and his daughter was taken to the MetroWest Medical Center’s Framingham Union campus as a precaution. "Due to Lema drinking and driving with her, we wanted to make sure she was all right," Shastany said.
The Department of Youth Services was notified, and DYS spokeswoman Denise Monteiro said the child’s mother was located. DYS is doing an evaluation.
It is unclear if Lema, the child and the child’s mother live together. The child is in the custody of her mother.
"We are out there assessing it, and we’re trying to find out how she ended up with the dad, and the mother not knowing he was impaired," Monteiro said.
Lema of 48 South St. was charged with child endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, operating a vehicle without a license and operating a vehicle negligently as to endanger.
Lema is scheduled to be arraigned today in Framingham District Court.

FRAMINGHAM -- An arrest warrant was issued yesterday after a Framingham man skipped his arraignment on child endangerment and drunk driving charges.
Luis Lala Lema, 24, was scheduled to be arraigned in Framingham District Court after he was arrested early Saturday. Police say he was passed out drunk behind the wheel of his car while his 3-year-old daughter slept beside him.
Lema was originally scheduled to be arraigned Monday, but there was no Spanish interpreter available in court, so he was released on the condition he return to court yesterday for his arraignment.
When Lema's name was called by the clerk, he was not in the building, and a default warrant was issued.
Lema, of 48 South St., was arrested at a little after 5 a.m. Saturday when someone reported the vehicle running with Lema and the toddler in the vehicle.
Police said it took several minutes to wake up Lema, who told them he had "lots" to drink, according to court records.
Lema was charged with child endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, operating a vehicle without a license and operating a vehicle negligently as to endanger.
Police also called the Department of Youth Services who gave the youngster to her mother. A DYS spokeswoman said they were investigating the incident.

I'll bet this guy is either running for the border, or moving to another area to start over with a new identity.
