WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

A man who paid a woman working at a gas station for a back massage, according to police, is now accused of sexually assaulting her.

Cruz Lopez, 47, is in the Cowlitz County Jail on rape charges. He is not allowed bail, due to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

Woodland police said the investigation began June 2. A woman reported to police her 27-year-old daughter had been raped at knifepoint. Police interviewed her at PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center.

Detectives said Lopez initially denied knowing the woman, but eventually admitted having sex with her. Police said he denied ever pulling a knife.

Investigators said the alleged victim was working at a gas station near the suspect's hotel on Hoffman Street in Woodland. At some point, according to police, she agreed to give the man a massage at his hotel, saying she needed the extra money.

Lopez will be arraigned in court June 18.
