Coulter: Trump Should Quit Listening To Consultants on Immigration

    By: Sandy Fitzgerald

GOP nominee Donald Trump should "quit listening to people who worked for rivals he crushed" when it comes to his policies on immigration, and questions about mass deportations of undocumented immigrants are "completely retarded," outspoken conservative author Ann Coulter said Saturday.

"The law is the law," Coulter told talk show host Larry Kudlow on his WABC radio program Saturday, while discussing comments Trump made during a town hall meeting this week about the possibility of allowing otherwise law-abiding immigrants to remain in the United States if they pay back taxes.

Coulter lashed out on Twitter the next day about Trump's changing stance on immigration, and on Saturday continued to speak out on the issue.

"These are the lies being told to the American people" by immigration reform backers like the Senate's "Gang of Eight," Coulter said, and further placed blame for Trump's statements at the feet of former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who has been advising Trump after leaving the network following allegations of sexual harassment by several female correspondents.

"Ailes ran the largest Marco Rubio super PAC, Fox News," Coulter groused to Kudlow, pointing out that Trump was telling Hannity one thing on immigration, while contradicting those words in other speeches during the week.

She also railed against Trump's statements that he'd be willing to work with immigrants who have been living in the United States illegally.

"You have somebody that has been in the country for 20 years. He has done a great job," Trump said at the town hall. "He has a job, everything else. OK. Do we take him and the family, her or him or whatever, and send them out? So do we tell these people to get out, number one, or do we work with them and let them stay in some cases?"

"If we have a big speeding problem on I-95, will the entire debate be about a guy rushing his wife to the hospital?" Coulter said.

The United States is a "nation of laws," she continued, and she does not believe anyone living in the United States illegally has a constitutional right to stay.

Meanwhile, there are laws on the books to alleviate the issues of illegal immigration, said Coulter, but officials and and the wealthy do not want to enforce those laws, becasue Democrats want votes and "plutocrats" want cheap labor for their homes done by people "who don't live in their neighborhoods."

Coulter, on the program to promote her new pro-Trump book "In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!" told Kudlow that in her book, she points out that even the "most law-abiding immigrant" with one child would need to buy and pay taxes on "$125,000 worth of goods" to break even" with the advantages the person gets in the United States.

Kudlow said he agrees with Coulter and others on border security, but he "just can't get" to the point of deporting people who have been in the United States for several years, but Coulter said ICE [Immigrations and Customs Enforcement] should be left alone to do its job."

She also lambasted claims of there being 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, telling Kudlow there are "at least 30 million, probably more like 50 million."

In addition, she ridiculed claims from the Obama administration about the numbers of people who have been deported, saying they "changed the definition of deportation," and that "nobody counted them before."

But overall, Coulter said she can get past Trump's statements on immigration, as "he's made mistakes before."

She also claimed that she was only joking when she told MSNBC's "Hardball" program that her book tour could be the "shortest ever" after Trump's comments at the town hall.

"He said stupid things about immigration before and our heads were exploding," said Coulter.

And at the end of the day, Americans need someone like Trump who is not a politician and not controlled by consultants and donors.

"He has always cared about regular working class Americans," Coulter said in praise of Trump. "He will always put Americans first."
