"Blue-slip attack" ??
Interesting story that I'm sure you'll hear more about. I'm interested in W Gheen's comments about this, BUT I would say even though there seems to a consensus that the bill will unfortunately pass the Senate, and may have problems in the House, we CANNOT let up with our pressure and CANNOT take anything for granted as anything can happen! We're still in very dangerous territory with this amnesty bill floating around and a desperate, failed president who will sign anything just to say he has a "victory." SO I'm still calling etc. Senate offices!

House conservatives are ready to stop the Senate immigration bill in its tracks with a potent procedural weapon should the contentious measure win passage in the upper chamber.
The trump card conservatives may hold is a constitutional rule that revenue-related bills must originate in the House. The Senate immigration measure requires that illegal immigrants pay back taxes before becoming citizens, opening the door to a House protest, dubbed a “blue slipâ€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

"Blue-slip attack"
If the main "revenue issue" involved here is the requirement that amnestied aliens "will be required to pay back taxes", that provision has been removed from this year's bill (S. 134 by the Bush Administration.
However, I still hear this being reported. This will increase the costs to the U.S. taxpayer for implementation of this massive bill even more. Not to mention that U.S. citizens who fail to pay all their required taxes face substantial fines and jail time, while our lawmakers seem to want to give special rewards to illegal aliens for each additional law they break!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Texas2step,
From a CNN report dated 5/24/07:
"The Senate unanimously approved Republican Sen. John McCain's amendment that requires illegal immigrants to pay back taxes on their earnings for the time they had been in the United States.
The provision was omitted from the original bill because such taxes are considered impossible to collect..."Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
