Cross-border truck program hits a pothole


If Congress axes funding, Mexico may block exports

WASHINGTON – The Mexican government is considering blocking U.S. exports, such as pork and rice, should Congress cut off funding for a cross-border trucking program, as is expected to happen within days.
Even if Congress ends funding for the contentious program through the catch-all spending bill that is under consideration, there is a growing expectation that the Bush administration will find a way to continue it in what some say would be an act of defiance and others say would be compliance with the law.

I dare you Mexico. Get tough and nasty with us and we will start delivering your citizens to you and keeping our dollars!

How about we ban Mexican exports of products by US companies there?

The unions like to pick and choose when it comes to issues, don't they. They don;'t want mexican trucks, but they want the mexicans!!!!!

As for American companies doing business there and sending their products back to the U.S., let them put a huge tariff on their products. Maybe the companies will come back where they belong!!!!

NO TRADE WITH MEXICO.....SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. WE CAN SELL OUR PRODUCTS TO SOMEONE ELSE. BUT THEY WILL HAVE TO DO THE SAME. AND AS THE POSTER ABOVE SAID.....THAT WOULD INCLUDE ALL THOSE AMERICAN COMPANIES THAT DUMPED THEIR EMPLOYEES HERE IN USA AND RAN TO MEXICO. THEY ARE NOT AMERICAN COMPANIES ANYMORE...THEY ARE MEXICAN COMPANIES NOW. LETS GET STARTED RIGHT NOW. DONT BUY PRODUCTS FROM MEXICO. I WOULD GO SO FAR AS TO SAY DONT BUY PRODUCTS WITH SPANISH ANYWHERE ON THE LABEL. THE DOLLAR MIGHT BE WEAK....BUT IT STILL TALKS.
