Cynthia Nixon, a Democratic candidate for New York’s gubernatorial race, described Immigration and Customs Enforcement as “a terrorist organization” Thursday night in a speech and called for ICE to be abolished.
The actress-turned-politician came out strongly against ICE and President Trump after a week of growing outrage over the administration’s zero-tolerance immigration policy.
She shared a local news reporter’s tweet of her speaking about abolishing ICE in a church, adding her own message.
ICE is a terrorist organization, and its egomaniacal leader is Donald Trump. Sign our petition to #AbolishICE: https://t.co/sZ3VF6lRhEhttps://t.co/qsB6XiJUJc

Ms. Nixon’s petition reads that “we must abolish ICE and do everything possible to shield New York families from Trump’s rogue immigration agents.”
About 700 children are currently estimated to be in New York after being separated from family at the border.
Her Democratic opponent, incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo, is also taking a tough stance against the administration over immigration. He announced Tuesday that his state would sue on behalf of immigrant children and their parents.

U.S. Border Patrol Council Vice President Art del Cueto ripped New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon for calling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) a "terrorist organization."
"ICE has strayed so far from its mission. It's supposed to be here to keep Americans safe... It's turned into a terrorist organization," Nixon (D), formerly of "Sex and the City," said.
Nixon is seeking the Democratic nomination against two-term incumbent Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.).
"I don't know what to say to these people," del Cueto said, adding that he took issue with TIME magazine's controversial cover featuring President Trump and an immigrant child.
"The pictures that the media likes to continuously show [are] from the Obama administration," he said, adding that Phil Keating's report from a Florida detention center is a more accurate portrayal of what is happening on the ground.
He also ripped actor Peter Fonda, who sent several incendiary tweets directed at federal officials and Barron Trump.
"It's disgusting," he said. "They need to go back to history class."
