Cave Creek day labor law permanently barred

PHOENIX (AP) -- A federal judge has made permanent her order blocking a law in the Phoenix suburb of Cave Creek that barred people from standing on public streets and soliciting employment from occupants of cars.

U.S. District Judge Roslyn Silver's order on Friday comes two months after she temporarily blocked the law on constitutional grounds.

The American Civil Liberties Union and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund sued the town in March, claiming the law violated free speech rights.

The Town Council revoked the ordinance after Silver's ruling.

Mayor Vincent Francia says the Council may propose other action targeting illegal immigrant day laborers. But he says that free speech is vitally important to the country, so he didn't mind losing the case.

Again its the JUDGES.

I've seen two interviews now with top Democrats about the Dems being split because of Hillary and Obama. Both of they guys on different days in different shows said the answer to those folks who are angry is two words:

SUPREME COURT.

This is their push. They don't care about immigration, energy, environment right now. It's all about control of the Supreme Court. Now if you think our victories can't be overturned by Obama's judges, think again.

Its time that people understand and know that our politicians are not the only ones getting money from corporations. It seems the only time are laws are enforced anymore is when it is to benefit an illegal. HOGWASH!

This means prostitutes can now be soliticing "employment" on public streets? Can't see much difference between an illegal alien working when it's expressly forbidden by law and a prostitute working for the same reason. Either way we are getting SCREWED.

I would LOVE to see some enterprising prostitutes testing this.

Excellent point, miguelina. My question: Does this mean that any laws on the books about indigency and loitering are now a moot point? Where is a good pro bono lawyer when you need one on behalf of this country?

This is simply pandering and loitering not to mention a BIG NUISANCE to passer-by's.

Since when did the USA start having DAY LABORERS roaming the American streets? And BOWING DOWN to groups like the ACLU and what??? the MEXICAN AMERICAN LEGAL DEFENSE AND EDUCATION FUND!!!

That is totally absurd! This is not a third world country...YET!

It's beginning to appear as if many of the judges in this country are merely an extension of the corrupt politicians that put them on the bench...

remind me NOT to go to Cave Creek for ANY reason.
