Dean: Immigrants Are GOP’s 2006 Foil

Dean: Immigrants Are GOP’s 2006 Foil

    Larry Eichel, Philadelphia Inquirer

Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean told the National Council of La Raza yesterday that he expected the Republican Party to “scapegoat immigrants during the 2006 election campaign.

In a speech on the last day of the Hispanic advocacy organization’s annual gathering, at the Convention Center, Dean said the GOP had tried to generate resentment against blacks in the 2002 elections through the issue of affirmative action and against gays last year by focusing on marriage.

“In 2006, it’s going to be immigration, he said. “You wait and see.

As evidence, Dean cited Rep. Thomas G. Tancredo (R., Colo.), who has called for rounding up illegal immigrants and shipping them back home. He also referred to a bill sponsored by House Judiciary Chairman Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R., Wis.) that would make states verify individuals’ immigration status before issuing them driver’s licenses.

“I don’t think the president is a bigot, Dean told reporters at the Convention Center. “But I wish he’d have the courage to stand up to the bigots in his own party.

Dean’s Republican counterpart, Ken Mehlman, followed him to the rostrum and did not respond there. But later, he told reporters that the former Vermont governor’s comments were “laughable.

Said Mehlman: “It sounds like a good political sound bite, but it’s entirely belied by this president, this administration’s record.

Mehlman noted that President Bush has created what the party chairman called “the most diverse administration in history, that Bush got more than 40 percent of the Hispanic vote in 2004, and that the party is striving to get a bigger share in the future.

“Your interests are our interests, he told his Hispanic audience during his speech. “Your cause is our cause.

Guess what Howard? It's your party that is voting CAFTA out of existence because it will cost too many blue collar jobs and will do too much harm to existing businesses in the region! Smart guy!

    YAAAAAARGH!

On top of that, go to Free Republic sometime if you want to know how Republicans really feel about !l'immigracion! And there are Hispanics who don't like criminal aliens posting there, too!

    WAAAAAARGH!

And then return to your beautiful state that is miles away from Boston and New York and anywhere else. Vermont, where if you see a person who isn't white you go into shock. Vermont, where YOU'LL NEVER HAVE TO PAY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! YOU MORON!

    YEEEEAAAAAARGH!!!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Mehlman stating this ridiculous quote.

If that was really the case, he would have deported himself back to Europe, being nothing but a "swamp yankee" according to La Raza.

And since when does loving your country make you a bigot! Go hang out in South Austin sometime, Dean. You'll find out who the bigots really are!

Yeeeah, WE know, Mr. Melhman and that's why all the Republicans are going to lose their seats next election.

Illegal aliens can't vote. And American Hispanics have the same goals as any American.

So I think you stepped in your "pooty mess" so to doublespeak!!

Your Party which is my party has lost its way down in Mexico and up in Canada and down in Central America and Waaaaay Down South along the Amazon River instead of here on the Swanee River.

You all need to spend some more time here in the United States, less time there, and devote your entire attention to American Interests and American Causes....which would mean you don't step foot within 100 miles of another National Council of La Raza Convention, you silly fool.

    Grrrrrrrr!!

Looks like Dean stepped in his too. He thinks catering to illegals is going to help the Democratic Party....when the fact is "catering to illegals" is going to:

Get you impeached, fired, thrown out of office, prosecuted, jailed, glassed, GMO'ed, watched and photographed as you pace your Traitor Cell muttering over and over "where did I go wrong?"

    (You kissed the wrong butt).

At least Dean didn't say something like the hotel cleaning staff was at the meeting. Remember that comment about how Republicans couldn't get blacks at their convention if they invited the cleaning staff?

It would probably have been funny though!

Well, if it's Howard's party that's voting CAFTA out of existence, then most of us are with HIS party on that one. Most of us are fighting tooth and nail to stop CAFTA--yet another so-called "free" trade program that will be the ruin of this nation.
