Mexican consul says immigration law worries Hispanics

    Associated Press - August 16, 2007 6:34 PM ET

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Mexican consul Andres Chao says a sweeping Oklahoma law denying benefits and jobs to illegal immigrants raises concerns among the Hispanic community around the region. Chao says those concerns come as police agencies in northwest Arkansas prepare to send officers to federal immigration training. However, as Arkansas' cost of living remains low, he says the state and surrounding area will draw immigrants wanting to save money to send home to their families.

Some Arkansas legislators this week suggested that stricter laws in Oklahoma and Tennessee would cause more illegal immigrants to move to Arkansas. Chao says immigrants would continue to come to Arkansas, home to 1 of the nation's fastest growing Hispanic populations.

So then it's time for Arkansas to pass the same legislation! If enough states pass this same type of legislation, then maybe many of them will simply go back home.

If Arkansas legislators welcomes them with open arms, I suggest the citizens lock their doors and dont go out at night.

It seems to be when the illegal aliens rape most and DWI's occur

Absolutely! If all states enact similar laws, there will be no refuge, period. The illegals would then have no recourse. I don't understand why the state legislators don't realize this. It's not rocket science.

If illegals are so afraid that Arkansas is going to step up enforcement, why would they continue to flock there for jobs and homes?

This is just another example of how little sense these people make. On one hand there's the whining and crying about how fearful and afraid illegals are, yet on the other we hear statements like this one where we're told that the illegals are going to "continue" to descend in droves upon areas allegedly causing them all of this abject fear.

Why don't they make up their minds?
